VAGUE NOUVELLE VAGUE

One could never accomplish to fully analyze the films of the Nouvelle Vague era (which could rather be defined as absurd, striking and memorable), like as the exact cause of riots in Paris, 1968. With Charles De Gaulle on lead (in France) the youth and the working class were unsatisfied. But what was the cause of 1968? Was it Jean Paul Sartre with his post-war existentialist philosophy, the Marxist intellectuals as called ‘’situationists’’, the influence of Vietnam war based anti-war American youth or the young cinephiles such like Jean-Luc Godard, François Truffaut, etc. with their critical, young, unique and maybe ‘vague’ way of saying things?

Coming to 21st ct Marxist have turned to capitalists, freedom fighters have faded to conformists. But the scars of 1968 remain from striking imagery of political posters by Atelier Populaire and cult Nouvelle Vague films.
